Like many other members of Generation Z, I have often heard from older people that “today’s young people don’t want to work hard,” “they only do the bare minimum,” and “they are lazy.” The phenomenon of quiet quitting , in which employees refuse to participate in hustle culture and only do the minimum required by their contracts to pay the bills, is also being passed down from generation to generation. The fact that young people no longer want to work hard is frowned upon by most “rightists” (and not only them) born before 1989, including the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka. At the same time, the endless pressure on productivity, the competition to see who is more efficient, and the obsession with moving up the career ladder at least one step are perfectly suited to our economic system.
